ECHO CS-400 no cat muffler

I'd like to know the part number of an early no cat muffler for a CS-400 chainsaw, if such a thing exists. Brand new saw so don't want to butcher the original for obvious reasons.

No butchering required. Take the muffler off and cut the cat out with a hole saw and put it back on. That's how I do those.

Thanks Steve. I am aware of that mod, but want to find a muffler for an older CS-400 without a cat. I may have to fall back on a hole saw though.

There is not a non-cat muffler that I am aware of in our market. International shipping for a normal muffler may be cost prohibitive.

Thanks. Is there any more to after the reducer plate and cat are removed to open the muffler? I realize the carburetor needs tuning after muffler mods.

You can take a Dremel cut off wheel and cut the little dividers out of the exhaust port under the deflector if you want to but I never noticed a difference. Removing the cat is the single biggest improvement. Less heat and better flow.

Buy a spare muff from Fleabay.for like 10.00, then put the original back on if you need to warranty it. I just ripped out the cat with pliers from the inlet side, wide open after that.

Thanks for the replies, guys. This muffler has a thin sheet metal plate with an open slot restricting the intake hole in the muffler from being a circle. That is going to have to go away before I can pull the cat out.

That's strange, mine didn't have that. Anyway, I would get a used one from fleabay to modify.

Did all of this with a drill bit and a spiral rotary burr. Removed the cat and the small plate you spoke of. Then I opened the birdcage holes and outlet some more
installed wider screen and replaced outlet cover. Did all mods with drill bit and rotary burr. Runs great now I did not run it before. Fleabay saw untested only thing I had to do besides tune and clean it up. I got lucky.
