HELP! CRV Mice problem

I had mice in my wife’s new Crv. Need help to get to defrost and heat doors above the cabin air filter. Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a bit since I was in the HVAC department in my building, but there shouldn't be any dampers above that one, which is the fresh air/recirculation damper, or F/R in "the biz". The defrost and air mix dampers should be more in the center, in the main body of the HVAC. Unfortunately most manufacters have went to a complete dash sub-assembly, with the HVAC installed on the firewall side and the whole dash unit installed through the windshield opening. Is the mice mess hindering function?

All I can say is have fun, because that tends to be a project you want to do only once. It would be nice to have telescopic fingers for jobs like that.

Yes there is a little bit of nest right above the door in picture. I removed most of the nest in picture and the door shown came loose from operating arm. I can see the places it snaps into but can’t reach it. There is another door behind the door shown.
Pinesol poured in garage and mouse deterring sent bags going to be placed in car and every where I can think they should be.

What year CRV? Most hondas build their HVAC boxes in sub assemblies for easy servicing. Depending on the year you can have that entire blower housing out in under an hour.

Looks like Honda still has a serviceable blower housing. Depending on your skills you can remove just the blower housing section to clean it out and get the recirc door back where it's supposed to be.

Copious amounts of moth balls in select locations will get them out.

At the risk of sticking my nose in, not necessarily.
Had a 4-wheeler in the garage with my wife's car. 4-wheeler acted like it had battery problems, when I pulled the seat, the battery compartment was packed with polyester yarn from a scarf in the wife's car the mice had been removing. Digging into the car's spare tire compartment, found pink fiberglass wall insulation made into a nest. Little fkuers had been robbing that from a partial roll I had in a trash bag in the garage.
As much as I dislike cats, we've not really had that problem since we're keeping them in the garage at night..

I'm not trying to stir sh¡t but research has shown moth balls may cause leukemia in some people or children, they are poisonous and with kill parakeets and canaries in the house. I've had good results with cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil.
Also I have a "garage "cat which is the best deterrent.

That's good to know. A little late though, Grandmas quilts were heavy scented with it.
Our little Ray Ray is hell on mice. Greedy couldn't catch a crippled one if he tried, and he ain't gonna try at anything.

Don't know about the 25's but wife's '17 had a big square hole in the firewall for air intake. Have to remove some cowl plastic to see it. Covering that up with expanded metal will keep em out of that filter. Vids on YouTube for the visual learners.

Thanks for the reply’s. Going to cover the cowl holes with wire screen.
Don’t know why the holes are so big still trying to find all the screws for blower box removal.
Everything seems to be covered up by something else. Definitely g5oing with peppermint oil and other natural scents .

Ok fixed the recir door today. After not being able to Diane tear down info, I just decided to go for it and remove parts as I go and went for it. Glove box was out for air filter change. Then bottom dash cover. Next air bag came out. Pulled heater fan no help. Took off front of dash cover and side cover. Still could not reach door arm to put back in place. Removed blower box as shown before in post above. Put door arm back in actuator. That was the easiest part less than one minute to put back. Reassembling went a little better. I’m not sure if I would do it again. I’m not so good laying in the floor with my feet in the seat. Pictures to follow.

Part circled is where it was loose. Plastic arm were bendable a little bit. Lesson learned when cleaning this area don’t force anything even a little bit. I did not force it hardly at all but it was just a little too much.
