Crank stuffers

I'm going to be building a 576xp soon. This will be the first saw I worked on with crank stuffers. The question I have is, has anyone left them out when putting the saw back together? I've seen a couple for sale local by me (rebuilt) and the first thing they say is the crank stuffers have been removed, and the saw seems to run and cut fine.

I have heard of people adding stuffers to increase compression, I would imagine if it originally had it and the stuffers were removed then it would have less compression (more space in crankcase).

You have to remember, not everyone's definition of "run and cut fine" is the same. Some people selling a car may say the tires are kind of flat, but it still rolls good...

I would leave them in personally. Use a good mix oil at 32:1 and your bearings will be fine

I’ll second this. I have run 550’s and 545’s (stuffed vs. not) and 555’s and 562’s. I much prefer to run the saws with the stuffers. As Kevin said, you need to use a healthy amount of a good oil and life will be good
