I have a couple of old Coleman products. My favorites (also oldest) are a lantern that belonged to my grandfather that was made in 1958 and a 2-burner camp stove that was made in the early 1960's. I scored the old camp stove at a local auction house for under 20 bucks if I recall. The old lantern, I inherited from my grandfather. I love the old Coleman camping gear, the sound of a lantern takes me back to nights spent on the bank of Fish Creek walleye fishing with my dad and grandfather.
I have a newer dual fuel stove that we bought new in 2002, another newer (late 70's-early 80's) camp fuel lantern, and a handful of propane lanterns. The propane lanterns are convenient, but I still prefer the old pumpers. And any time the wife goes to that auction she tries to pick up more old Coleman gear that comes across the block. Sometimes we win, many times they get bid higher than we want to pay. I've seen those older lanterns go for more than $30. We like to snatch em up for $10 or less.
The wife has a soft spot for old Dietz oil and wick lanterns... As does my mom and sister in law. Some of those lil buggers demand a premium!
