I might give mine a touch more intake, what would you think about grinding a small half a circle in the bottom of the Piston skirt
One of my hybrids has a piston mod like that done by a guy in canada ,it runs real good ,not a race saw ,but pulls a long bar nice ,and good on fuel also .has bout 175-180 psi

I haven't been back....well, maybe to PM some about the OPE. Have noticed some lurking, if you watch the who's online tab.

Piston is easy to replace if you go backward. Go for it.

BUT........report back. :)

I never understood why people on there was so worried about what other people did to there saws. Like they had money invested in it, who cares if he ported it and you don't like it, good grief!

There are a few guys that are insecure as a mfer. That atmosphere spreads like wildfire.

I build a pretty good running saw........so do you.......and Scott.......and Deets......and so on and so forth.

Why would we not be interested in learning from each other?

I'm pretty sure there is room for improvement for each of us somewhere.

I looked at 2 threads today over there not signed in ,they are still arguing ,i like it here better too ,you can say something without being attacked .And the guys here are willing to help another out .

I message Darin pretty regularly.........chatted with him this morning.

Darin is a damn good dude........he just sees things from a different perspective than we do. He can't wrap his mind around dropping the few real problem children for the betterment of the whole. He has the roles reversed on who the real trouble makers are. Until he wakes up and sees things for what they really are......nothing is gonna change there.

I would love to have some soft wood, nothing here but hickory and oak.

I'll get some sycamore now and then and it will really make a saw look fast.
Hickory and oak now there's a good problem to have. I cut some aspen every now and then. Saws fly through that stuff.

Well said Randy, I enjoy learning about these saws as I'm sure all of us do. I've been texting with a few other guys from here pretty regularly about saws, mostly the 066. I think we've got it pretty well figured out how to really make em run. But the key to all of it was gettin off AS so we could actually talk about things and learn. Now that we have this site we don't have that problem

I know nothing much about any other saw than a 066, I've spent 10 years working on that particular saw and I've gotten to where they run pretty good that said to have the knowledge like randy on all saws is truly amazing and I'm not just shoving chips in your vagina I mean it.

When I port something that's not a 066 my info comes from a mastermind build thread or my good friend mike Lee and I can't thank either one enough.

Once a man thinks he knows everything he's done learning, nobody can know everything about this and that's why it's so addicting and fascinating,I've been hooked for over 10 years and this place just fuels my fire.

How many aluminum chips did you cram in it? I'm guessing a few more couldn't hurt.

I'm building myself one of these in my spare time, which is none.

Anybody tried 100 on the exhaust?
I did 101/117/79 on my buddies. Never had more than a 25" on it but it spools like right now.

I wold have never done a build thread on AS, it would be one guy after the other telling me they won't last and that's not how I do it, I build very few work saws, if you don't like how I build one have someone else do it.
Or its compared to someone else's ported saw and you can't really do that fairly.

Those would be damn good numbers for that 24" bar.

I never knew you were into porting that much Red. Was AS holding you back lol
He wanted it mainly for a 20". It runs really nice. My hybrid is 102/118/78. The only way i could really see the difference was when the 25" was buried.
