What makes the 3 point aftermarket spikes better than OEM stihl west coast spikes?

Better would probably be a strong word to use. It's probably more along the lines of personal preference.

The middle spike is inline with the kerf. Think of what you want to of this.

The longer middle spike changes the pivot point.

The long bottom spike are like safety pros that extend down below the case.

TY for the explanation. Amazing how many different ways you can set up a saw for what your doing.

I wonder how much more a 500i weighs over stock with all those west coast bits and pieces? Wrap, dust deflector, large spikes, roller catch, HD spring and HD clutch cover... ect. Lot of add ons over factory.

Not necessarily these dawgs, but I like a bigger set of dawgs to a point, because I can make a lower stump while still being “dogged” into the stump. With the stock dawgs, the case will be rubbing with much swell or bark.

All saws are in west coast trims all but the 500i were empty.

Not too aggressive, and kept the saw away nicely. A 32 is either just sweeping or not quite in the majority of the trees here, and the dawgs were not as grabby as Pro-Safety 5 points, which I’m not a fan of.
I was trying to move the butt of the tree over in the stump picture with a modified Swanson cut if anyone is wondering. There was an old-growth stump that I didn’t want the butt to be on.

Cool... TY. 70cc saw at 70cc weight, 80cc saw at 80cc weight and 90cc saw at 90cc weight. Makes sense. Someone now just has to weigh a stock 500i for us to know the difference.

That 500i is full of fuel and oil the 372 is empty they aren’t that far off in weight.
