I normally get one end in with the other end near the little opening, then like you I use a pick to persuade the other end in. It does work I just figured I'd probably spend more time fixing stuff and less time cursing if I had the tool

I hear ya, if you do it alot then get it for sure. At the shop I work at we don't rebuild saws all to often so I don't Need the tool all that much....doesn't count for the times I've stabbed my fingers with that pick though!

Practice more and forget the tool try wearing reading glasses when you do it.
