I think you could sell it just the way it is, I agree that it looks like it would make a great work saw.

Don't you have a different jug you can experiment with???

I'm reminded of the guy who had a freaky fast 396 Chevelle, but he had to have a 427 in it. It was slower (and he sold the 396 to get the 427). Kick Self, Kick Self, Kick Self!!!!!

It will gain from widening the ports.

I've got lots of cylinders and I agree that it would be a great work/play saw. It's not big compression and is completely rebuilt so it should live a while.

I'm gonna raise the intake but if I don't like it it's easy to grind out

If you raise the intake, raising the transfers would be a mistake IMHO.

Maybe raise the exhaust. Saw runs so good as is, makes you wonder.

At least the intake raise can be reversed.

I have room to lower it still if I raise the exhaust and don't like it.
I'll just clip the lower and widen and raise the intake. Going 70/75% on the exhaust

Mike..... He cut .120 off the base, he can't just throw another jug on there to experiment with.

This jug has the numbers it does because of the 288 piston and the machine work

If the 288 piston has longer and wider skirts, does it take up more case volume?
If it does, perhaps going back to the standard crank and getting some case volume back has brought performance back.

I would be more interested to see the difference between a cylinder fitted with an OEM piston and one running the 288 piston with the circle crank.

I think you have confirmed the saw is strong, now I would like to see what can be done running the circle crank.

If you have an OEM P&C, try them.

If it works I will happily take the current jug and 288 piston off your hands!

Your saw seems like a bit of a freak.
It runs crazy good regardless of which crank is in it. I'm really curious what will happen when you do some carving inside the jug. Looks great so far Jay. Nice work
Yeah Mike.

He's got .050 out of the band, so he's at 230+ comp already. He also has some pretty great numbers already for a stock crank saw.

My bet is that raising the intake will shift the torque curve up in the rpm range. The saw may cut better with an 8 over a 9 pin. I bet he gains 1000+ rpm when he raises the intake.

I think the transfer height is perfect for the full circle crank. He could raise his exhaust if he wanted to.

Then again, I could be very wrong in my prediction here.

The #s different for early 066 and a new 660 but im not sure what Jason has there if its early 066 or new 660? 1904 will work also im pretty sure though. Didnt we have some 1902s John?
