If it is that strong, I would leave it alone! Don't ruin lightning in a bottle, it don't happen often!

If you want to play, port a different jug.

Didn't you say the piston skirt is longer? Maybe it just likes it that way, and you have discovered an easy way to make them scream!

J, if raising the exhaust a degree or two doesn't work, is there room to cut the base some more ?

It's completely stock and I believe it will run with a lot of ported ones.

Dunno for sure...........

Is this the first 1122 you have tried a 288 piston in?

I would start with the trans; get em flattened out and squared up. That will tell you what else it needs, at least in part. It's all one big experiment!
If you don't wanna grind on that good cylinder, experiment with one that's not so good!

Well you can't go back to a 66 piston unless you cut the piston a ton right? If the skirt is wider is it any different in length? Something has to be going on. I've seen a fair bit of 66s and only a few seem as nasty as that in such a mild form. I have a couple of saws with compression increased only and really like them that way.

I like that, but what if Mike is right ?
I think 98 is where a 660 is going to be strongest but raising the exhaust is the last thing I'm gonna do.

Any guess on compression? I haven't checked it.

IIRC,
You cut .050 from the chamber ?
You cut .100 from the base ?

I'm going on a real bad memory, please correct them numbers if I messed them up

I'd say youre close to 220-230
