Fixed! Subtle difference in my correction but it's the difference between cutting straight and cutting in a circle. Other wise I agree with you and I think we agree we are saying the same thing.

I recommend the a progressive type raker gauge. They set the raker height based on the length of the individual cutter. Not like those gauges that lay across several teeth at once.

It helps to learn to be ambidextrous. That said, if I'm not careful I can make my square file chain walk a bit in either direction. I try to keep my down pressure straight down.

Double check for dull corners if the chain was rocked. You may think the chain was sharpened properly, but if the dull corners were not completely removed on one side, it will not cut straight.

Cutting stumps can dull chains quickly. Sometimes it is as simple as a dull chain causing a curved cut, I had a new Oregon chain do that out of the box on a poulan, I couldn't cut 3" before it would bind.

If its cutting to the left post pics of left hand cutters or vice versa of chain. That's a good starting point for us to examine to help. Otherwise we are kinda guessing.
