I just use zip lock bags, painters tape and sharpee. Chain dl etc. Cutter ie new, 1/2 or rock and root. Mark sharp and remark in field dull.

This is how I store my chains.
Chain cardboard boxes reinforced with transparent office/duck tape, chain specs written on the lid.
But increasingly, Stihl chain storage boxes. They will hold two 24"/84DL 3/8" loops.

I think he was referring to the orangy colored plastic boxes Wilhelm posted.
But I'm with you. Nice concept, just to expensive.

I used to carry spares in those original chain boxes, then I saw @isaaccarlson 's idea and bought one of those Made In USA Plano boxes. When I go cutting, I'll throw a couple loops in there and be good.
I did check out that locker, very expensive but the biggest limiting factor was length. I use 24" and 28" a lot.

I don't understand how plastic bags work. I tried one once and the chain sliced right through it. Now I use the plano tray and it's great. 12+ chains in an easy to carry case and they are organized by size. I will get another case and have one for each saw.

Nice looking boxes. Not sure they are available in US. How pricey are they?
Those weren't available in the US a couple years ago, I sent a couple to Jason @jmester .
Maybe they are available now, I don't know.

They are about 4$ a piece.
Stihl part number is seen on one of my attached pictures.

I have some bags from my old employer, they packed interlock kits in them. Very thick. They'd hold up fine for a good while, I just don't prefer that way.

Definitely agree with this sentiment as far as the zip locks go. They never lasted long kicking around in my work truck. The jerky bags are much tougher plastic. Shredded cheese bags work gooder too… I may try the plaino box though for all my top handle chain.

At $4 to $5 each I'd be buying the Stihl boxes! At the prices on Ebay, no way!
I had to look, why TF are they priced 2-3x higher than retail AND SELLING?!

Just ask someone from Europe to get You some of those boxes.
Take enough boxes to make shipping less painful.

Because people pay it. That's what allows prices to get so high. If people refused to pay inflated prices, the market would be much more stable.
It was a rhetorical question! ;)
I know that being able to sell at high prices requires someone willing to pay said prices.
It is the norm for everything, smartphones, computers, cars, and yes chainsaws and other OPE - it literally is the norm for everything nowadays.

I keep saying that the consumer needs to dial down consumption and prices will plummet.
But most people take that as an assault on their rights and freedom, yet they will get into debt just to pose as being wealthy.

As I said, I buy my Stihl boxes locally, no shipping, for 4$ a piece.

Cheers :beer-toast1:
