Ok, I feel stupid not being able to figure this out.

I am working on an old 029. Runs good, but after 5 minutes of cutting, the chain gets so tight it won't move!!!

I have tried new clutch cover, bar, and chain.

Tensioner works fine, oiler too.

I adjust the chain to proper tension, snug the bar nuts down, prolly too tight since I suspect that is why it is happening, and same problem!!!

WTF am I missing!!!

Clutch drum same same as bar chain? 3/8 .050 7-tooth sprocket?

Yes, this one had an 8 tooth .325, changed it to 7 pin spur. It is pretty worn, maybe go get a new one and try new drum

Chain could be riding up on the spur That's what I'd check the chain driver is worn enough that it tries to climb the spur I wouldn't try a new chain but I bet it would stop doing it

Try a different bar. I suspect the one you are using has a tip sprocket issue.

The fact that it runs fine for a little while would lead me to believe it has to do with heat, and binding.

If switching to a different bar doesn't provide an answer, try the different bar and chain. If it still happens, I would suggest running the set up without the clutch cover. Just set the bar up, add some washers, and tighten everything up normally. This will allow you to see if the problem is on the PTO side.

The 7 pin I tried was pretty worn too, dealer said .005 groove is considered worn!!!
Mine are halfway between the two posted, so pretty worn!!
