I needed to replace the bar studs in this 2188, but the bearings are just fine. So........I just popped the flywheel side off, cleaned the parts, replaced the studs, then pulled the crank back into the bearing. These Husky special tools are the chit. :D

I love having the right tools. I would rather drop what I'm doing a make the right tool than screw around with three other tools that don't work as good. Sometimes it takes the same or less time to do it right!
Aaaah DONE!

Let's see the bar studs...are they threaded, or do the press in from the backside?

Shindaiwa studs also press in. I have used a telescoping magnet through the oil fill hole to get them started into the case, then used a bar nut and stack of washers to pull them into position until seated.

Do the Jonsered studs have inadequate clearance when the case is assembled to perform the swapperoo?
