Briggs & Stratton generator

A friend brought me a B&S generator for me to get running for him. I am sure it is the carburetor. The model # of the engine is 196g412-1120EZ. This generator is about 20 years old with about one hour on it. Do I get a genuine B&S rebuild kit for 60$ or buy a new after market carb for 22$ on E-bay. Thank you for any help.

I think that's a "pulsa jet '" or whatever they call it .I have an 8 HP on one generator and it went funky from the gas getting funky .I had to field strip the carb and rod out the fuel line .Sat way too long not ran ,typical gen problem ,happens often .I've got "Stabil " in the gas now .
