How long have you had yours @shadco ?

I've had the saw for about 20 months, new 2018 model, It spent some time hidden away in Springfield Or but I finally got it back. The work that was done there wasn't what I asked for so I sent it over to Kevin who nailed it.

I've had it back for about 6 months, it's a killer. 357 carb intake and filter, 350 top cover, Black coil, Weisco Piston and stuffed with extra sausage and a nice set of felling dogs.

.

Hows the 500 do? Im wanting one in a bad way and the local dealer has one. Havn't been able to justify it yet.

He said it runs really good in multiple posts in this thread...plus he cuts rock hard wood...so...I'd say it's got plenty of balls.

near morgantown here and i like my 500

I've been wanting one of these mostly just to say that I have one and partly because I think they would be a bad ass saw for general cutting. I usually keep one smaller saw running an 18 or 20 and a bigger saw with a 32+ when I'm cutting firewood and clearing property. I know a 500 is like 80cc but the whole fuel injected thing seems like it adds alot of power for that displacement. Is it the equivalent of sticking a 20" bar on a 660 or is it more like a hopped up 372

I didn't run one enough to give you a solid answer, plus it wasn't ported. Just a muffler mod.

It's a tweener for me personally. I have 462s and 661s.

You reckon I could talk the stihl dealer into letting me demo a 500 for a few weeks? lol

I would sell a 660 and a 562 in a heartbeat if the 500 could do both of their jobs

Idk dude..I don't know your dealer..

660s are pathetic in stock trim...so I'd say yeah.

Go see Dallas, he has a ported one.

One of them wierd orange things. My dad loves them and they are what I started out running. But I got fed up with huskigi's when I started having to work on them. In my opinion, husky is way harder to work on than stihls

Yea she's stock. Was thinking about starting to do my own port stuff but it's way too complicated for me.

In all honesty, the 500 would end up being a shelf queen for me. I can't bring myself to use a new saw. Much less one of those things

As Ryan says, I love it! I sort of second-guessed myself when it first came back from Kevin (remember my messages @huskihl ?) but I didn't realise it would wake up so much with a few tanks of fuel. For me, it's lighter and smoother than a MS440 and has more balls than a 661c (don't worry I've owned and used both) and with a 20 inch bar (as in the pics above) it's absolutely brutal. Its a keeper for sure.

If you only use a stock 660 you don't know what you are missing out on LOL

Damn you.. Now I want one even worse. Weight to power ratio on this thing seems to be pretty crazy compaired to literally just about every other saw in production
