First hunt if the year today! Got in the stand about 2 this afternoon. At 3 I hear some running and a doe comes to 15 yards. She spins around and stops 18 yards broadside. Well 40 yards later she piles up!

Lol! Im jealous, have not been out yet. 2 buddies have killed nice bucks and they r chasing like crazy rite now here. Ole stuntcock seen a big one today run across the road dogging a doe. Im set to head to southern IL for a week of hunting. 7 days and counting.....

Nice! I didnt see any chasing today. Neighbor showed me pics of three deer he has seen. Two 10 pointers and a nice 8. I had a basket 8 a 5 point and a spike around my stand today. That doe got donated to the Hunters sharing the harvest program here in Pittsburgh.

Whitetail management program...first doe donated then everything else in the freezer! Have to shoot a doe before you can shoot a buck! First year they asked if I wanted the back straps and tenderloins. I said I sure do!

Haha! Good deal!and u get to keep the choice cuts! Ya i have heard of that before now that u mention it. Ive heard it called "earn a buck program" not in IL but in IA i believe they do the same thing. I have visited a friend out there before and the deer/bucks make IL look like the maternity ward. I was there for 3 days and we just drove around glassing and we seen a 200"er. Thats hard to come by anywhere. Seems like the program works, helping the herd and the hungry

Back in the stand for a morning hunt. Got in a little later than I planned but oh well. Spooked a couple but they didn't blow. Just had a yearling walk past. Squirrels are out in full force!

Was following a doe. Reed in my grunt call froze..sounded like a goose being raped by a bull. They walked away. About 120yards..

Perry county. DuQuion is the big town near by. But plans changed. Dads health is down and wer gonna skip the week that leads in to 1st gun season and try for second season and muzzleloader. His breathing is bad from COPD, never smoked, and he is still banged up from back and hip surgery. He has ups and downs and right now is down. Hoping i can get him back in the woods this year
