Bow Hunting

I hunt public land so I don’t want to leave markers ? I don’t go in very far and didn’t use my flashlight and not being in there since last season I just went a little to far.
The deer there don’t seem to move till late morning anyway. But will move early afternoon!!

In Wisconsin you now have to choose public or private land when you buy your license/tags. And they are only good on what you choose.

That sucks I’m in Ohio but in Indiana you buy your license by choice of weapon?
Also in Ohio they’ve reduced tags majorly and now I have to buy 3 either sex tags at $24 each even if I shot my buck first !! and can only take one doe and one buck from state land ?
If I want my 3rd deer I have to have private property to hunt.
Also no does to be harvested after gun season.
While Ky 10 min away have unlimited doe tags. Figure that one out.

Wisconsin is either archery or firearm.
$3 extra for archery if you want to use a crossbow.
1 buck tag with each license. 1 doe tag with each. Extras can be purchased, number depends on county.
Buck tags are now weapon specific. You used to be able to use your firearm buck tag on a archery buck, but no longer.
Doe tags are non weapon specific.

Just like the last few years, Im sure our DNR will make a rule change a week before the firearm opener..and if you have never hunted a Wi. firearm season, it gets just plain stupid the number of blaze orange Rambo's that take to the woods.

How quickly things change...! Left for work about 6:15 this morning and almost got that 6 point I have been seeing. He crossed the road about 150 yards from my house. I spun around and hit the lights on him. His nose was down and he was running two does. Seems like a great time to have the next 12 days off!

Well it rained all night but stopped before first light. Had a little trouble getting up this morning but I finally made it. It's 53° and the fog is rolling in.

28 here in central Wi now.
Tomorrow cloudy and cool, rain, maybe snow rolling in Sunday.
I just have to slog through 8 more hours of broken cars, then its bow time until the 12th!

I have the option to be off for the next 11 days! I think im taking that option! We're supposed to get storms tomorrow!

Well, no hunting for me tomorrow. Today, just before noon, my cell rings.
Its my wife, Tracy.
I answer, and she says "guess where I am?"
My response of in our bed, nekkid, waiting for me was not correct.
Nope, on her way to pick up our youngest daughter from school. 102 fever, raw throat. Yay, strep. So, no hunting until saturday!

Well, no hunting for me tomorrow. Today, just before noon, my cell rings.
Its my wife, Tracy.
I answer, and she says "guess where I am?"
My response of in our bed, nekkid, waiting for me was not correct.

So I told my wife I will be dressed and standing in front of the house, bow in hand when she pulls in the driveway from work. That will give me 2 hours of light. Better than nothing, and I have a few stands that are relatively easy to sneak into.

Just took my oldest daughter to wait for the bus, as its 20 degrees, no wind.
A spike buck decided to walk into the field across the road. I took this through my windshield.

Im back in the stand this afternoon! Bailed on hunting this morning with the forecast of lightning. Mid 50's and windy now. Going for a ride in the stand today!

Seeing anything? Same area I killed the doe last month. Should be seeing some rut activity soon...

Squirrels, giant woodpeckers, some idiot (me) in camo.
This years been weird. Had a small buck chasing a doe saturday. Pics show bucks all swelled up, making scrapes.
Weathers been screwy. 38 today.
