great engines run a good ashless oil at 50:1 and you shouldn't have any problems.

Steve - you will always be a kid to some of us...

Amazing the things you never knew existed, and I was around in the 80's, and the 70's, and the 60's, and half of the 50's...
...and I'm still around since then too.

Back in those early 70's we (mostly my dad) used the horizontal shaft engine and over center clutch off a Jacobson two stroke powered reel type mower on a mini-bike that I used to tear around on. It was not a rear user friendly design, lever type throttle on the handlebars and reach down behind you to engage the clutch, but we had a lot of fun.

The Snapper push mower that Dad bought in about '87 or '88 had a 4hp Tecumseh 4-stroke. It ran well enough and was tough, but was always a bit temperamental in the heat... It vapor locked a lot towards the end of it's life. I think that I put 2 more engines on that mower before it went down the road as I was using t for His yard and several others while earning money in middle school and high school. I also was running a 2-stroke Lawn Boy at the time and generally used the snapper for bagging and the Lawn Boy for everything else.
