https://chimneysweeponline.com/howood.htmThat is large for a dogwood. I have a 18” diameter one in my front yard. I think it’s about 70 years old. I haven’t seen dogwood on common wood btu charts but it’s extremely dense, I would think it would top locust as far as BTUs go.
Sitting by the woodpile to be split this spring. Heaviest wood I ever lifted putting it in the truck. That's a biggun! It'll make some decent firewood if you didn't grind it up. The wood is hard enough to make a golf driver club head.
That only lists pacific dogwood, this was probably a Cornus florida. I think they are slower growing and more dense than the pacific variety. Probably higher btu than that lists
Wow...been a while since I've looked @ this BTU chart.
Some times that can flip or all be equal. The lower trunk is always denser on locust and big white oak. Burned lots of black locust and white oak this winter.Wow...been a while since I've looked @ this BTU chart.
Never thought that shagbark or white oak produces more btu's than black locust!
