Burnt trees demo

Can’t remember ever doing a tree with this much leafage. It’s thick and heavy. Not quite enough room to drop it whole I don’t think. I have a man lift at my disposal…dropping limbs directly onto the truck/trailer has been a big time saver before. I could get a lot of main limbs from the ground… It seems easier to me to cut stuff up from the bucket than to cut it down and fight it on the ground…? Probably let limbs dry in my yard and NYE bonfire. I bought a little old chipper mulcher but haven’t tried to get it running yet and don’t know what I’d do with them unless they wanted the mulch around their place. What do y’all think?

I’d fell it and have it cleaned up in 1-1.5 days. 3k if insurance is paying 1.5k if not.

From those pic's I recon you could just fell it. Maybe if your unsure put a rope up open it.

Yeah, I might drop the limbs I can reach from the ground on all sides except the N and dump it N. Then I can tow two trailers with two trucks and not have to tow the lift.

Or you could just drive one vehicle and no trailers. Bring some fuel oil. And matches. I'm just sayin.

We killed the mesquites today.

It’s different with the house gone…gonna have to haircut it from the bucket at least some. Could dump it where the house is, but the balance is way off.

They’re gonna build a barndominium…6 kids. I guess it was pretty stressful counting heads getting them out. Whole thing burned down in minutes.

I cut that section of limb out with the swing ;-)

Ended up taking the big ficus down from the bucket (obviously). I took one lowest limb off from the ground and didn’t care for working the saw that high and also getting tarred and feathered with Sap and man glitter. I though about pulling it over whole, but it was 100% leaning the wrong way and I knew it would be a big fat broken tangled mess of a pile when it hit if I did.
Laying them all out and breaking them down I was able to keep 3 guys busy humping branches Half a day. Still have a couple left. 261 I got from @Funky sawman kicked butt for dropping stuff and breaking it down as well as my @Benwa ported 2159 and @huskihl 395 for the bigger stuff. 2139 didn’t wanna run for crap….Again.

I’m happy to have a (heavy) trailer load of wood that isn’t dry hard dusty junk.

this is 1/4 of the limbs…8’ tall after being cut down.

has to make a u turn in the deuce. There was a tumbleweed type bush in the way…



On this last pic: was the first limb, only one I cut from the ground and only one to get hung up. I think I should have cut the notch more vertical and open (as opposed to 90* to the limb) as well as the back cut, maybe open it as well…and maybe chased it thru as it fell?

That chunk is gonna make cool slabs, which is another reason it didn’t fell it whole…I didn’t want to notch it.

Dropping mesquites onto the trailer was nice for avoiding having to handle them. They are basically a cactus. Wish that log had stayed on the trailer. On the ficus, It was faster to get it on the ground and then break it down.
