All my .22 rifles wear Lyman or Williams receiver sights. Out to 50 yards I can shoot them just fine. If I was a serious small game hunter I would probably try to find an old Leupold M8 4x28 scope with fine cross hairs. I used to have one and traded it like a big dummy.

Henry makes great rifles, I have the H001T .22 LR with octagonal barrel. If you need .22 Magnum ammo I think I have some leftover from the Single Six I used to have.

I may have shot my uncle's .22 Mag as a kid, can't recall. Yet I've heard nothing but good stuff about them.
Although I've also read some impressive things about the .22 Hornet!

Might be the ticket for my slug gun/turkey gun, thanks!
Went squirrel hunting with my buddy today, he got a new Henry 22 from his wife for Christmas. I shouldered it, and I could not get the front sight in focus at all. At 56, my eyes need much help, my bifocals would work if the bottom was on the top. I will stick to optics now.

I'm no expert rifle guy I always shot idpa pistol matches.
But with the Bushnell it's very easy to consistently hit a 6" Target at 100 yards
The dot nearly covers the target
With that Mossberg plinkster.
I know that's not phenomenal accuracy
But it's fun.
Hopefully someone makes a 1 moa dot
That would be a good one for accuracy.

I have a set of Williams fiber sights on my Henry. It helps a lot but I'm still gonna have to scope it. Can't see either.

Maybe a dot sight, puts everything in the same plane, dot, Target. Going to try one on one of my Marlins. Not many fit the 3/8" dovetail, and those that do have a 4-5 moa dot.

I can't do any sort of glowing or fiber optic sights on a rifle, they get really fuzzy for me. That's why I put the Tech Sights on my Rossi.

I find it fascinating how sensitive the human eye is to a particular sight. I cannot see any iron sights that are not illuminated. I don't care for red dot sights. Really fighting myself to not put a scope on my Henry because it looks awesome without a scope. And the Williams sights are too nice to cover up. See through rings are dumb. :D

The trick to red dot sights is to focus on the target. People try to focus on the dot, and that is just wrong. A proper red dot sight will keep the dot in focus at the target distance. Everything should be in the same focal plane as the target.

That's probably what I'm doing wrong and why I don't care for them. My daughter just bought a red dot for her shotgun. I'll give that a try focusing on the target only and see how I do.

That's a good point Lnk. I will say this new Crossfire has an option to turn down the intensity of the red dot. It has a 10 step dial. Suppose that would help guys who have a hard time with brightness and pass focusing.

I think you will find they are a good alternative to scopes, if, you can keep the focus off the dot. It is hard to unlearn the front sight focus. Good luck.

Adjust it to where it feels best, bright days will require higher intensity. It is a good option for us visually challenged.
