…now if ol’ Remington Nylon 66’s we’re still around, I might hafta re-think my 10/22 suggestion. The 66’s were damn good 22’s back in the 70’s.
Around here in freezing winter temps they often wouldn't cycle rounds.
10/22 used to be my go to 22, but now a days a Marlin Papoose is the only semi auto I own. Very handy to keep close by. I like the 10 shot clips, usually leave them loaded with 9.

My usual woods hunting rifle is my Marlin 336 Texan with a little 3x weaver scope. At these distances I don't need magnification, rather the scope adds badly needed clarity of view in dim light. As evening wears on, the rear hole of an aperture gets small and fuzzy.

Ruger 10/22 Deluxe Varmint semi heavy barrel.
Crossfire 3-9x 40 scope w/red dot.
I did try several optics from Sig, Bushnell but my old eyes liked this one the best.
Nice, I know you will enjoy it. Never had a 10/22, but never heard anyone complain about them either. There goes your stash of 22 long rifle.:2guns:

Pretty sweet Tim! I went to a large gun show yesterday and didn't see one Marlin 60. Seen a bunch of 10/22 they wanted a bunch of money for them. Miss the days of a $129.99 Marlin 60 or 10/22.

I love the crossfire scopes! Great product for the money.

Thx. for that Steve.
Yes sir Steve those days are gone. The used 60's I saw were $240-275 range so they have appreciated well. After your 40mm recommendation it was a good call after looking through them for sure. Hard to beat the clarity and lifetime warranty on the Vortex piece.

You're welcome. I have a 44mm on my .22 mag and at 100 yards it's clear as 25!

I bought a model 93 savage left hand from a buddy that has never been fired for $100. I need to but a scope on it might put a 2-7x32 crossfire like I have on my marlin 45-70. My 10-22 has a old jason 4x32 on it.

10/22 is always a good choice, and that particular one will hold its value well.

I'm a Marlin guy 100% but I think the model 60 is the most overrated product they ever came out with. There's nothing really bad about it, but nothing really superior either. Alot of 60's didn't work very well but people accepted it because they didn't cost much and were usually pretty accurate.

My best friend bought one brand new in the early 90's that would not cycle anything other than Mini Mags. Believe me, we tried every kind of ammo we could find and cleaned and lubed the rifle down to the smallest detail. He ended up getting $40.00 trade in on an 880 bolt action which has been superb and his son now uses.

I'm a Marlin guy 100% too Lance. My 60 will cycle anything I feed it. Always has. Very consistent groupings too. Your friend got one from the bad batch I'm sure. I know I have bought highly regarded items that where not worth a crap to me. left a bad taste in my mouth for that item because of it. The way it goes I guess.

I'm sure most of them work fine and I've never seen a Marlin rimfire that wasn't accurate. Were there particular years or serial ranges known to be problematic?

The clip fed version, model 995, was my first gun and I still have it. I think the reason that the Rossi RS22 works so well is because it is a simplified copy of the 995 & 795.

I have no idea if there ever was a problem with a batch or not. Figured your buddy just got a last gun produced on Friday or fist gun Monday kinda thing.
