I haven’t ran a saw much since last winter. Maybe a storm or two here and there. We have been slammed remodeling our shop/office at work and finally wrapped it up Tuesday. We had a lot of good red oaks down on a few field roads, so we hooked up the trailer, put the grapple on the tractor and went at it. Two of us ran the 462s I purchased in July all day. After the fourth tank or so, they really came to life. I have to say I am impressed with them in stock form, BUT now I want more. We can’t really go full bore porting since they are agency saws and I have to keep screens in them. Does a BG delete and muffler mod wake these up a little?

I didn’t get any pics since my phone was in my truck and I took the tractor down, but we ended up with 21, 10’ logs anywhere from 30” down to 16” or so. We left the tops for firewood guys with permits and they were out of our way off the roads. My guys are going to hate me, but I wasn’t letting good red oak go to completely by shoving it all off the road. I will noodle the big stuff in quarters so it’s easier to work up.

All in all, it was a great day of cutting. Glad to smell that two stroke exhaust!

Good to hear from you. Sounds like you’re having some fun. What kind of grapple are you running on your loader?

It’s a Frontier/JD. pretty decent grapple for what we use it for. Euro mount so it fits three of our tractors. I had to add some bar grating to the center section because the tines were too far apart and limbs would ALWAYS find the grill! I would have went a different route but it was part of the package and JD was on contract so it is much easier to stick with there stuff and roll it all into one purchase order.

I’d like to get a grapple in the next year, bought a logging winch last winter and now I need the loader accessory to complete the package lol. I have very crude bolt on forks (wouldn’t even call them that) that get the job done but they’re a pain.

Do you have a quick attach bucket of some sort? Blue Diamond attachments are here in Knoxville TN and make good looking attachments. Everything Attachments seems to be the go to for most people.

No I don’t have a quick attach adapter yet, so that will pile on another $1,000 when I get a grapple. I’ll also have to buy a loader control with 3rd function, another $400. Adds up quick. I won’t be going with EA, I want heavier duty because my loader is much stronger and tractor is much heavier than the average modern 50hp 4x4 type tractor. Might be over thinking it but I’d rather have over built.
