Couldn't you just put Moto seal on 1 surface and let it cure then reassemble like that? I mean it would still form a rubber like gasket wouldn't it??
I should have mentioned why I was thinking this way. Cleanliness keeping it out of the lowers.Follow the directions on the tube.
I've used it a few times per instructions, no issues.I should have mentioned why I was thinking this way. Cleanliness keeping it out of the lowers.
There is your problem, thin layer on both sides. Clean, no oil on mating surfaces, let it cure overnight.I've had no luck keeping it out of the transfers. But then again I've only ever tried it on a 372. Maybe I'd have better luck with my 046. Would almost have to use the entire tube lol
Agreed, maybe I was not clear. I put a thin layer on both sides, assemble while wet and let cure overnight. Have seen sealant, same color as motoseal on edge of new 562’s, have you?You only need a thin layer. Just thick enough that you can’t see through it. If you’re gooping and gobbing it on,, it’s going to squeeze into the transfers.
I put a thin layer on and assemble instantly. You don’t want a gasket, you want the two surfaces adhered together and sealed. Can’t do that when one side is dry
On all the 5 series paper gaskets, they put a dob above the crankcase seams. Lately it’s been more all the way across the front and back. I’m nor sure if it’s Motoseal. More like maybe 1184 or Honda Bond, Yama Bond, something a little more rubbery that squishes out.Agreed, maybe I was not clear.
