Honestly, I think alot of folks would do better going to work instead of high school. Massive waste of time for most people. I have a B.A. and M.A. and have no doubt that I could have still earned those degrees starting college with just what I learned through 8th grade. The main thing I got from high school was an in depth understanding of how sh!tty people can treat each other.

What I did was quit school, then I took the GED. I passed it easily, then started trade school. I was a student in the automotive program at Central Carolina Technical College at 16.

I didn't actually start a family. I got married a month before my 22nd birthday.

I use the shortest bar possible for the job.
Only exception being, I use a long light bar
when cutting small brush close to the ground,
this saves bending, and I would be bending a lot cutting whin bushes.
A pole saw would be better as I can hang it on a harness to carry the
weight and get a better cut without jagging myself on the actual bush am cutting, there is often acres of them to cut, they always on bad ground, hills,
stony, wet and unwelcoming, they grow close together, had a hard time
finding this single one to show the thick bottom that needs cut, they
are actually hard wood, heavy and dense, no thicker than 2 inch most being
1" or over when densely packed.

But dude, you're missing out on those big power gains by not using a long bar! Put a 20 incher on an MS-250 and 24 on a 455 Rancher and cut those redwoods like butter!

Me also, but I was politely asked to leave 9th grade at 15. Got my GED within 6 months . I eventually went to University after a few years of construction and roofing .
Funny but theres more girls in college than construction?

I too was “politely” asked to leave 11th grade. Had a 60 year old student teacher. I did not respect him and he did not respect me. My other teachers loved me for the Arsehat that I was. Even got respectable grades in their classes. I was rude and disrespectful toward the guy. Everyday. I meant every word I said to him still to this day.

went and got my diploma from an adult night school. No regrets with any of that.

I went to three different high schools. The second one, I agreed to go somewhere else in lieu of an expulsion hearing. I will admit that most of my troubles back then were due to my own stupid behavior and I should have made better choices. At the same time, what do you expect to happen when you are dropped into an environment filled with others making their own bad choices? The third school was a charm, if for no other reason than I only did my senior year there, didn't know anybody coming in, and (Thank God!) was accepted into work study where I could spend half the school day away from that horrid environment.

I tested out when I was 17 to go to work here full time. I had attended a private school with high standards. 80% to pass. Fail, you do the material over until you pass. When I took the CHSPE I didn’t think I did very well, but they said I would have graduated in the 90th percentile in public school…

There was a sad video I saw where a bunch of late-teen through mid-twenties folks at a pride march or something were asked questions similar to "who fought in the civil war", "what countries border the u.s.", "name 3 countries", etc. Apparently the civil war was the U.S. fighting France and Britain, but they're the same thing, Mexico and Puerto Rico border the U.S., and Canada and New Mexico are the only two countries they could think of. These days being in the 90th percentile in public school means that you have at least two brain cells to rub together.

I had no trouble with adult night school. I was courteous and respectful towards the staff they were as well. Honestly only had a problem with the one specific fella I mentioned. I made it a point to get sent to the principal daily from his class. My referrals or write ups whatever stacked up so highly from that specific individual. They moved me out of his class. But I had so many referrals at that point the superintendent got involved. In my opinion he shouldn’t have been running the classroom.

so long story short I got some sorts of one more referrals for anything I’m out. I got a write up for talking in class….. so options were drop out or expulsion. Whatev. I left signed up at James H groves. Graduated. Meh. Fugg that dude.

he taught an Agriscience class and told me I was stupid for thinking I could be a farmer. He tried and failed so it was Unachievable. That’s what started things. Yeah I said some disrespectful things. This continues daily until I’m removed from class. Still no regrets

We as we are finding out, public school isn't for everyone. Square peg in a round hole sorta thing.
Hol' up there, you mean stuffing energetic young kids in seats all day isn't necessarily the best thing for them? What sorta crazy talk is that?! (You'll have to imagine the sarcasm)
