I see Bad Boy Mowers has gotten into handheld OPE, and one of their offerings is a gas chainsaw. I'm thinking it's a rebadged Maruyama or copy thereof.

I know a few people that have bad boy mowers. I looked at one, they are built like tanks. I was going to buy one but the dealer was out of the one I wanted.

idk about that saw but my bad boy 54” has been pretty much flawless in 6 years of mowing, not heavy “commercial” use, but i mowed 20-25 lawns weekly during the season with it since i bought it in ‘19. my buddy bought a brand new scag tigercat 2 a couple tyears ago, its been in for warranty work four times. i could damn near buy 3 bad boys for what he has into that scag. yeah its a cheesy name but they are solid machines.

I have a Woods which is a rebadged Grasshopper. I would not recommend it to anyone. One of my sons has a medium sized Hustler. Another one of the sons wanted to trade their Hustler in on a new one. The old one had a 72 inch deck. The dealer brought out one with a 104 inch deck. The damn thing had wings. He said I am mowing around hog, cattle, and chicken buildings not mowing football fields.

Go get a 1974 Sears rider with a 12HP Tecumseh and compare it to a 24hp rider today 50 years newer.

Yes. They must rate HP different now. My grandfather had a 1948 Ford 8n tractor rated at 18 HP. My kawasaki lawnmower engine is 24. That doesn't add up in my mind.

"Working HP" vs. "Stall HP," it's a Marketing Department thing.

I agree.
My early 60s IH Cub Cadet 70 garden tractor has a 7hp Kohler. My grandma’s 2018 Cub Cadet XT1 has a 22hp Kohler.

I could be totally wrong, but this Bad Boy chainsaw looks like the Echo your son had at the gtg from what I recall… perhaps a rebranded Echo this is. What model Echo was that Calvin was using?

Their zero turn mowers, if the right model, actually aren’t that bad. Especially for homeowner use. Thats pretty much all I know them for. It seems they’re trying to get into more and more equipment/tools. I’m not sure that’s a great idea for them. But hey it’s not my business.

Finger banged these at equip expo. They are echo, older echo if that makes sense. String trimmers too.
