I am a huge Olympyk / Efco fan, but I dig the obscure and uncommon saws.

They are hard to get parts for. If I was a production cutter, I would shy away.

If my memory serves me right the Olympyk_999 was a hell of a saw .

They're cool.

The 2 series and 9 series saws are my favorites.

I have a new Efco MT8200. I had never seen one before down here. Does anyone use them? How do they compare?
I don't know anything about them.

The 162/962 had a good power to weigh ratio at least "on paper" (neither was quite true according to independent test reports), but no other Efco model ever had, that I know of. Also, the Efco saws generally suffer from "bad taste" regarding design, and low detail quality of covers etc. The AV isn't good on any model I have seen reasonably reliable reports on, including said 62 cc saws.

I don't know their most recent models, but surely wouldn't want to buy one, unless the alternative was an Asian saw (like Echo).

I have several Efco and their predecessors. The 950f's are all mag, pro built , light good handleing 50cc saws that are great cutters. But once the coil craps your done. I've had no issues with parts availability or warranty coverage with my newer brushcutter. I will say this. The plastic, yes the plastic could be better. Doesn't like UV. Hang on a landscapers utility trailer a couple of three summers and it could be a problem. The extendable pole saw with the swivel head is the best. No argument, there's a reason they are never discounted.

i agree on the plastics at least on the trimmers and brushcutters no matter what color they were new they are pretty much white now at least on the ones I've worked on they run great though.never been around their saws much but people like them around here.

Yeah,I have a 34cc Castor/Alpina (also Italian)that is at least 20 years old. The plastics on it are better than my six year old Efco 40cc brushcutter. Had to replace the fuel tank on the Efco already. But they had it and i got it in a day.

How do you find the 999 compares with any other 6 cube saw like a Husky 2100 or 655?

Much heavier. I haven't had the pleasure of running a 2100 or 655. The 655 being a reed saw likely has more torque.

Fun fact i had a couple of the alpina mini mac clones and more than once they ripped the skin and some of my fingerprints off when starting them. Don't know if it was a timing issue or backfire or my buddy swears they could run backwards i just don't miss those saws.

I am a new dealer in Washington State for Efco outdoor products. My company’s name is Schneiders Chainsaw Sales and Service in Tacoma Washington. I don't have problems getting parts for repairs. I have to agree that no one know about Efco products in Washington State however, I will be changing this. I have requested that the 8200 and the 7200 chainsaws be produced again. One of my customers complained about his shoulder and leg hurting from the power of our 77cc backpack leaf blower. I took it back and sold it to someone else at a discount. That contractor is quite happy this his machine. My future partner has said that their motors are well built. If anyone cannot get parts for their Efco equipment please let me know if I can help.

@Love Cutting Wood You stole my pictures of GB bars to use on your website. Take your own, or steal someone else's.
