Anybody Zeroed In on Lawnboy Mower?

What is the long plastic piece, attached to the carb (My mower is model 10252), that sticks up inside the shrouding? Is it a governor of some sort?

Probably the air governor blade. Uses air off the flywheel to govern the engine. Geinus really.

Let me guess. The air forces the engine to close the throttle plate, so the engine won't race. Seems that cheesy spring is prone to frequent breaking.

Has to be regulated somehow. Governors on 4 strokes also have springs. Just saw two mag decked Lawnboys a week and half ago in the shop at my work. Both ran excellently after a tune up. Coworker picked them up for a song at a yard sale.
