It came in a tool pouch included with a chainsaw I purchased. (Poulan S6000). View attachment 355555 My guess would be a piston stop maybe, only it’s pretty thick steel plate.
But the wrong saw apparently! Lol.Pretty amazing it's still with the saw.

Check your inbox for S6000 manuals and the Dolmar 153 manuals, M. Acres site said the S6000 is based on the Dolmar 153. Didn't see any tool that looked like that c shaped piece you posted.Try looking in an IPL or owners/repair manual for that model.

I really like these threads, really wanted to answer this but had no idea on what it was or even a guess on what it could be used for!It it a clutch stop, used on older Jonsreds saws. Hooks under the crankcase and through a slot in the clutch drum /clutch to hold it while you loosen the nut. Very handy tool to have in your toolbox if you have two different length bars and change the sprocket from 8T on the 16" bar to 7T on the 24" bar...
