Buy one!
I ran one of them the other day to cut abut 6 cookies, Ive been told they were a very smooth running saw, well that is an understatement. Vibes were non existent and it cut so smooth it is like it wasn't even running. Whatever the dolmar engineers did, theyve got it figured out
A 7900/7910 will at least hang with an 046 size saw.How do they run never ran one? Is the 7900 or 7910 as good as an 044? Guess i need to start looking for one
7900 is the original, 7910 is the newer version. There are a few differences. The 7900 has a higher limited coil, 13,500 vs 12,800, non EPA muffler, and the cylinder and piston are slightly different. You can only buy 7910 top ends now.Whats the diff in 7900 and 7910
add to this a bit7900 is the original, 7910 is the newer version. There are a few differences. The 7900 has a higher limited coil, 13,500 vs 12,800, non EPA muffler, and the cylinder and piston are slightly different. You can only buy 7910 top ends now.
The Home Depot saws are Makita 6421 with 13,500 coils, and stainless mufflers. Makes a great saw to convert to 79cc. I believe at least one of the builders here on the site prefers doing the 79cc saws this way to get the higher limited coil.
The flywheels are different too, and need to be matched with the proper coil, although I know som have used a 272 coil and made these saws unlimited.
There might be other differences, but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment. Maybe someone else can chime in and add to this, or correct me if I've given out any false info.
So is 322 a good price for a 6421 i found one at home depot then convert it to 7900 with a muffler mod will that work and is price good7900 is the original, 7910 is the newer version. $322.00 is the listed price, but I've seen them go for as low as $275.00. I usually ask what their bottom price is. They usually have a little wiggle room from $322.00.So is 322 a good price for a 6421 i found one at home depot then convert it to 7900 with a muffler mod will that work and is price good
Nice im gonna go check it out never ran a dolmar but i want one i think i will put hd filter kit too$322.00 is the listed price, but I've seen them go for as low as $275.00. I usually ask what their bottom price is. They usually have a little wiggle room from $322.00.
Put the 79cc top end on and the muffler mod and you're in business! Everything should be plug and play.
6400 is open port. 7900 are bottom fed closed portAre they open port cylinders
Can you make 6401 a 7900 by changinging cylinders6400 is open port. 7900 are bottom fed closed port
Because of the bottle neck in the HD filter elbow, the standard air filter flows more air. But the HD setup may last longer between filter cleaning
You need both piston and cylinder. 64cc is 47mm, 73cc is 50mm and the 79cc is 52mm.Can you make 6401 a 7900 by changinging cylinders
The one. Bought from Depot had a pinched bar which made it throw Sparks bad. Needless to say I got a discount that covered a new Oregon bar and 2 Stilh chains$322.00 is the listed price, but I've seen them go for as low as $275.00. I usually ask what their bottom price is.
