Hi there folks,
This is my absolute favorite saw and I've used it for 8 years now !
I found myself in an embarrassing situation when I got it stuck in a cut and for the life of me could not extract it.

I am looking for a new Chain and Bar, however I have no idea what's on the Saw.

This is where things got interesting.

This is what is on the Plate:
Textron UT number 50140 Serial T80 01291

I can't find that model at all in the Homelite site ?
Was there different models sold in Canada ?

I measure the bar at 14 inches from the Saw.

What do you guys think ?

Hello there guys,
I took a picture of the Data Plate Arrrghhhh.
I'll need to take another one of the Saw itself.

Say Wood Doctor ! It absolutely looks like yours. ( Just without the hand guard )
I'll post a picture of the whole thing when I get back home.

The Terry plant was in Pointe Claire as is says on the label which is a suburb of Montreal. It was owned by Textron.

Yours was made in 1980.

If you do buy that bar posted above which is the correct mount. Make sure you buy a 3/8 LP (low profile) chain and not a full size 3/8 pitch chain.
Chain spec's

3/8 LP pitch, gauge is 0.050 " 53 DL (drive links)

Hi there folks !
The new chain is amazing, thanks to everyone who offered help.
While I disassembled the saw I noticed that the Tension screw was gone !
I can't believe that I used it for so long, putting up with constant loose chain syndrome.
I put in a screw to run the tension pin and discovered that I needed a nut on the other side to hold the screw in place.
It seems to work now. However I was wondering if someone has a part number ? I'm curious to find out what the original part looked like ?PXL_20250525_174411014.jpgPXL_20250525_174411014.jpgPXL_20250525_165458102.jpgPXL_20250525_164330419.jpgPXL_20250525_164323363.jpgPXL_20250525_164315283.jpg

I believe the following is what you are looking for directly from the IPL. Not sure how you are supposed to crimp the end of the screw...that is a new one for me.

Here is the link to the entire IPL on Leon's Chainsaw and Parts website: Leon's Chainsaw and Parts - Homelite Super 2 IPL

Grind, file, lathe, sand, or crush. The smoother the better, whatever works. You can also use any type of rubber for a retainer instead of the "correct" part. I've used short bits of tygon fuel line with good success. Its just annoying if you don't remove the threads and your backing off the adjuster and the bolt comes out instead of pushing the adjuster in. I'm probably compulsive.

8 x 32 x 1 is fantastic data ! ( Which is a pretty standard size, phew ! )
Thanks so much for everyones suggestion.

I do have the Adjusting Pin, it can be seen in the 3rd picture from the right.
The good news is the threads are in good shape.

When you "tighten" the screw, it pulls the Pin forward, pushing the bar out, providing the tension.
When you turn it left or loosen, that's when it wants to back out as it pushes the pin towards the body of the saw.

The hole that the screw goes through is so worn, that it doesn't catch the threads anyways.
So I put a captive nut on the inside of the channel pushing against that wall as the pin moves back towards the saw.
A small dot of locktite would probably be the final fix ?

The Crimping reference is really interesting ... I'd LOVE to see how that works
:)

My saw is like new, that chain is AWESOME !
