Oregon 07-264/256 ID 0.117 OD 0.211 is the best match for most Huskies, it cover the last 242/254/262/346/357 and so on[/QUOTE]

That's the stuff my dealer gave me. It's the best I've used so far and perfect for three series husky.

Had the same thing happen to me, as the OP did. Oval shaped, very soft, pliable Hyway fuel line. Slid onto the carb with almost no force needed and leaked immediately with the first start up. Tried a small wire tie on the barb but it stilled leaked. The last bend, before connecting to the carb, crimped no matter how much I played with it. Started and idled fine. The second I tried to throttle it up the saw died, starved of fuel. Bought a new OEM fuel line and fixed the problem instantly.

Do you think it's the ethanol that hardens the line? I only use e free premium and mix my dad's fuel for him so it shouldn't be a problem. Hope so anyways.
Tygon is all they have at my local stihl/husky dealer.
I think the ethanol is most of the problem. We got no corn in our gas and I got saws with five year old tygon that's fine

The Hyway fuel line I bought was indicated as an AM replacement( numbers matched) and was brand new. The OD and ID of the line were both oval shaped, not round like a typical fuel line. Once the "bend" to the carb was made the soft line pinched off and allowed just enough fuel for start and idle, but not throttling up. Saw would sputter and stall immediately.

Sounds familiar. Got home from work one day last week and dad's saw was sitting in my garage with a note on it that said "starts then quits, please fix me". I knew right away it was that darn line. Pretty sure the stuff in the pic was hyway as well.

Ethanol IS the problem , there was never the issues we have now before it was in the pumps .
That and the rubber used to make these AM hoses which is wrong to start with .

Ones has to wonder haw many saws have lean seized because of those hoses either partly pinching off the fuel or getting a hole . Most wouldn't think of that if the hose had just been installed .

I purchased a couple of the lines in question from HLS a couple months back for a husky 371 rebuild.

One was nice and round and has worked fine in the saw I rebuilt.

The other one, which I opened today and used some on an 034 oil line, was flat and oval as shown in the OP posts.

I have a bit of yellow (no idea of brand) fuel line I got from a local Stihl dealer which is amazing. You can tie a knot it in and it wont block.

I think I will be getting more of that.

I think it is just ca case of cheap Chinese crap unfortunately.

Some of it is good, The Hyway gasket and seal kits are good, the 372 Hyway muffler I got is great!
The Clutch springs are good, bumper strips are wonderful, chain sprocket bearings are ok too.

If it is my personal saw... I use OEM bearings and rubber hoses but in Australia, a new OEM fuel, oil and impulse line can set you back $60
Throw a clutch and chain sprocket in and your up to $250.

At some point, the choice has to be made on price/quality/use, but some of it, like the really nasty Chinese fuel lines....... just dont use them!

I didn't suspect the line at first. Checked the tank vent, checked where the line went into the tank, adjusted the hi-lo, and finally took off the carb. By the time I had done all that the saw was started and ran a half dozen times to test run it. It's probably a good thing the saw quit almost immediately upon throttling up, or it might have lean seized on me. What threw me off the most was it started and idled fine. Never suspected a new fuel line was the issue.
