Its good to finally see a builder work closely with the casting production side to evolve the performance worksaw. Really inspiring to read and can't wait to see the end result. Now that Randy and partners have taken that first big step, I hope it's a successful venture that will lead to future further projects. I wonder also whether these unlimited coils will be a direct bolt on for the six series Solo's? I'd be in for a couple for sure.

That didn't take long. Post 28 & 29 only need one, now post 42 needs two[emoji12]

I was assuming that the 665 I recently acquired would take the same unlimited coil as a 7900...

If that's the case then if they are slow to appear I'm sure the 272 coil again can be used.....but I do understand the avoidance of this because of what's involved and cutting the key off the flywheel and retiming....and if there are issues that require removal of flywheel then retiming. I know some have had problems mounting them and what a PIA they can be but afterwards it all pays off. Still it would be nice to have a plug and play coil...it would make things a lot easier for EVERYONE to change out and use the increased performance from it.

Also been thinking about the Solo carb being Walbros....would it be advantages to use a Modded Zama to maybe squeeze a little more out????

Just always thinking of how to make "BETTER"......

Someone will have to test one of those carbs on a solo back to back. I've got to mess with my carb today. I didn't go back to mess with it last night.

Ya, Mike I'd like to see if it would make any difference.

Keep me posted on that carb...I wish I woulda had a saw to run it on and sort things out better before sending it to you....ran great on the Dolmar before all the changes....apparently were comparing apples to oranges here..... Really woulda thought it was going to be closer. Guess that tells me what I know...

The Solo is still in the box, but I must say that they are damn sexy...

I just like Walbro's but some testing between the two on the same saw would be interesting.

I wish they would use more Tillotson myself. You can pull one out of a greasy bucket and wipe it off and clean the screen and put it back to work. A new Zama may or may not work. Walbro seems to be middle ground.

They are, I got my first 681 in 2009 and when guys would fight and argue about what the strongest 60/70/80cc saws were I'd have a chuckle and not get involved. A 681 will cut with many 90cc saw too. Its not untill you sit one down on a bench right next to a 7900/6400 that you can really appriciate the minor details and 'better things' that the Solo's have. l like my 6400/7900 too but.... + 1 on more Tilly's, dang they were a nice quality product, pleasure to tune.

The solo has softer av which is real noticeable on long bars. Swap them out for the dolmar springs and you're good to go.
