Bolt on is nice, but with a little work the 272 coil does fit and function

Not a doubt in my mind that it'll work ,and work well . It's just not something that I'd be all warm and fuzzy doing myself .

I believe @Miller Mod Saws broaches a new flywheel key slot. If you are interested shoot him a PM for a price

I terms of getting a unlimited could made, why not have the manufacturer take a unlimited 272 coils innards wrapped on a 6400/7300/7900 coils core?

That should technically work, right?!

John Reilly does just this, I tried it but was unsuccessful.


But I think it would be easily done from a manufacturer. Just don't know if the demand is there to mass produce.
