Yes, I believe the 455 is the tipping point where the saws go to 3/8, below that they typically come with .325.

I have rebuilt a couple, Dad's 029 and my 044. Much preferred working on the 044. Clam shell was a little aggravating.

Ha, yeah. Parked next to coworker, noticed the saw and asked if he was getting prepared for the bad weather we had coming in. "No" He said he was going to throwing it in the trash. Asked me if I wanted it.

I think that is just crud and oxidation

Your saw has more pieces than my 2100 did that I found at the dump, at least the cylinder wasn't too far away...

Like all others have mentioned the 455 is a great saw to tool around on. Strip it down and go from there. If it has no scoring in the jug n piston, just delete the gasket and put it back together. Before you go and buy all the handle bits and any other exterior parts. Rebuild the carb and replace all the fuel lines inside and out along with new filters. After that run it and check the comp for real. It it runs and has good compression you got yourself a keeper to rebuild for sure.

I think all of the 4 Series Husqvarna saws are clamshell design so there is no cylinder base gasket you can delete. To remove the cylinder you effectively split the crankcase, albeit horizontally rather than vertically like the 2, 3, or 5 Series Husqvarna saws.



I put a 450 together with an AM kit from Traverse Creek (The Duke) and I really liked that saw, but sold it to someone that needed it more than I did.

This is a 455 that I went through recently, I did not have to remove the cylinder from the crankcase bottom.



Tuned out well.

Best focus i could get with phone and details are hard to see by pics. Small faint vertical line on intake side. Otherwise pristine. I think I can see faint cross hatch on cylinder finish. No smear or transfer visible

But definitely looks to have some water ingress. Both handle sides and trigger lock $56.95 to my door from HLS. So move forward or save my time. Water ingress is really my only concern. But no experience with that
