i will say i watched a little bit of this guy abomb79, has some cool vids of lathe work and cutting some big stuff, really neat and matter of fact.

I met Adam a couple of years back. He’s a really nice guy, and a very good machinist.

Youtube can be a good resource for information & entertainment… If you have a fair basic understanding to understand what’s good and what’s not.

It was much more useful 10 years ago. As with many events in 2020, it seems a lot of people got into it and with quantity increasing, quality has decreased.

Past weekend our dishwasher threw a previously unseen error code (Ha, never thought I'd have to say that !). Went on YT to see what the code meant so I could try a fix. 1st video was apparently some kind of AI generated. The 'voice' was describing a potential dishwasher dryer fan problem, but the video was some guy walking around an exterior HVAC heat pump unit.
Second video stated what the code meant, then proceeded to show me how to remove the door...and that was all.
I've found a lot of very informative videos on automotive fixes, but it does seem like there are a lot more people that are doing more blathering than teaching. Either that or I'm getting old and crotchety...

I think there are a lot of click-bait junk videos meant for people to click just so they get the number of views and make some money...

I still watch a lot of YouTube. I even pay extra for the zero advertisements. You just need to locate the right channel. I like South Main Auto. The guy is a very good mechanic, and I have learned a lot watching him. I saved myself a lot of money watching guys like him on YouTube.

I'll be honest, there are some chainsaw channels on the tube that got me into working on my own 2-cycle toys (mostly saws), but then it morphed into 1/5 scale RC cars that run 26-34cc motors. I know some of those guys aren't well regarded on here. And I'll be honest, I didn't know there was even a chainsaw forum before I saw the rant from JCS or whatever his name was.

If you want a good laugh. This Chainsaw Redeemer guy is a piece of work. There is a lot of poor-me ranting, so I just fast-forward to the actual saw work just for the lol. After watching him fix saws, I don't know how anyone is crazy enough to buy a saw from him.

I don't have cable, so it's either Prime or YouTube for me.
