I may be alone in this. But I’m getting a little worn out with all the BS on YouTube. I’d like to just have a place where you can share some of the most ridiculous claims and BS that you’ve seen on YT. Preferably related to saws and equipment but could be about anything.. so please share!

ill check youtube occasionally for a specific piece of info but this thing where people regularly watch “content” that these “creators” put out is just something i do not understand. but to each their own.

It’s getting worse too. I spent 30 minutes finding a helpful video about an EGR valve. 90% of the stuff on there is just blah, blah, blah.

My co-workers tell me they watch podcasts on there. Who wants to watch people talk at a microphone?

I learned to weld at YT University. There are some non-welding channels I like to watch, but after a bit of time there is nothing new for them to share, and it's "We went shopping at Costco, look what we bought". Watching people buy peanut butter by the barrel gets old within minutes, nay seconds....

I also found YT useful in fully taking apart a Beretta before shipping the slide off to be Cerakoted. I once sent off a fully assembled Sig, and it came back with a damaged hammer return spring that took me a good amount of time to figure out, get the part and put back together correctly. You can save a lot of money and time in watching some videos.

when youtube started, people who knew what they were doing put up vids to help others or uplod an old tv show or movie or whatever. now theres just a lot of people who know if they get views, they get money, and they dont care about much else. i think advertising as an occupation is about as gross as it gets.

Often times there's some good fact checking in the replies from the pros that really know.
The sad part about it is that the administrators are owners of the accounts. They can say what they want and delete any of the answers that don’t go along with them. No checks and balances.

There is also some great info there that has helped me many times

I had to rebuild a transmission in a 2013 fusion hybrid. There's a guy on the tube that shows the removal and installation of the transmission by the Ford shop book. He even spelled out what socket and wrenches were needed for each step and showed each step. It was great! Saved me a lot of time! A good visual goes a long ways of words in a book.

I've learned things about saws on the tube from guys like Joe.

For every worthwhile video there's probably 1000 that are a waste of time.

No, there is hard to find new to me good music videos, forgotten weapons, taofledermaus, battlebots, ...

The annoying thing is I watch those, like them, and yet YT keeps pushing suggested videos of the kind I keep blocking.

In relation to OPE, Married With Small Engines will waste at times an entire hour of video to diagnose a saw that is not running. But it does provide an international market, I was able to find out about the ms400.1 last year by reading the comments on a German video. And within a month those comments disappeared...
