Nothing is funner imop than towing a an old tractor with an old truck. lol Tractor is a 1947 Case VAI. Weight of trailer and tractor is estimated somewhere between 6000-7000 pounds. The ol GMC V6 pulled it really well for a whopping 305 cubic inches. Main thing that made it hard on the engine was the stupid wide ratio SM420. Time for a gear splitter...or a bigger 401 V6. But it was a blast none the less.

Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, at mechanics school, I met a guy with a Jimmy just like yours with that monstrous 401 V6. I had to count the sparks and distributor to believe it. Pulled like a freight train.

I hear ya. lol The 401 has a 4.87 bore and a 3.58 stroke. Plus it's a magnum so it has the large port heads and bigger two barrel. Made 372 torque at 1600!

I am positive you could find one...all it takes is time with the Yellow Pages (remember those things?), and the right amount of cash. Would be cool too, and throw a transfer case under it with springs, front axle, and make it a 4x4.

Yep, they are still out there. But getting rather expensive as people are figuring out what they really have. But yet still are to stupid to leave them in the truck they should be in. Gotta have that dump 350 small block.

There's one on C/L for sale in Kansas. Only $700 to. Wish I was closer. I'd have to find a 379 V6 flywheel in order for it to bolt up to my Sm420. Then with a 4 barrel intake mod and dual exhaust I'd be making v8's suffer. lol
