I got a nice 6400 awhile ago and bought a new 7910 pc. Finally got sone time to get around to building it and thought I would share what all I done to it.

I sent the cylinder out to rattler to get the base and band cut. Then ported it and muffler mod. My starting numbers were 106, 135/138, 77. I ended up at 98.5, 126/128, 80.5. Exhaust and trans got raised and widened, intake was just widened. The primary uppers I didn't take toward the intake because if where the ring pin is. The secondaries got widened toward the exhaust. For the lowers I just nipped the corners a little bit.

For the muffler, I heated up the crimp and and uncrimped it. I used a map gas torch and it only took about 10 minutes to do. I removed the baffle inside and matched the opening to the exhaust. The 6400 port is a good bit smaller then the 7910. So it needed opened up quite a bit. Also used a 660 exhaust gasket, it was almost a perfect fit. I then added another port to the fw side with a 288 style deflector.

So far I only tested it quick in some small stuff I had at the house. I'll try and find some bigger wood to get a video of it running. Here s some pics of what all was done.

Great job dude! I did the same on my 7900's muffler, and I was surprised to see how easy it was. This makes the Hack job JMS did on Sondre's 7900 even more scandalous.

Looks good. Carl Miller hooked me up with a conversion kit for my 6400 as well. Interested to see what you think of it in bigger wood.

Ported I suppose? Don't think twice, I love the 7900 he built me.

Lol, the muffler really wasn't all that hard. Surely a guy that ported saws everyday for 24.87609 years could figure it out....

I'll sell you a professionally ported 100$ weedwacker with a unicorn cylinder on it for 350$, a steal. It cuts like there is no string on it. I'll fix it for free if it ever breaks. I do this all day every day for last 20 years and I was a pro logger, don't listen to the fools on ope they are liars out to get me.

Ths nk you carl!! Those numbers actually came from you a year or 2 ago whenever I built my first 7910. It pulled a 32 no problem.
Other than mild muffler mod, stock PS-7900 with 36" 3\8" B&C BURIED in oak noodling - a thing of beauty and sheer power, didn't miss a beat!

PS-6400 & PS-7900 muffler's can easily be uncrimped cold.
I opened and closed my PS-7900 muffler without heat.
Granted, I only modded one of these muffler's, but they are easy enough to work on.

The first one I did I didn't use heat. It came apart but not as nice as this one did. Just makes the process a little easier I think.

I have pics somewhere of the 7900 I had with a 36 on it cutting up a 56 inch oak tree. I actually preferred running the dolly instead of the 660 I had with me also. Both were just mufgler modded.
