Agreed, on all accounts. Big dogs and a wrap on a 550 sound like a good way to make a light, nimble saw heavier and more awkward.

Marginally. It helps a little. However It's not as bad as a 346xp though. That saw is shaped like a weeble wobble.

I did the same thing on my 2253 too.

A muffler mod, a thinner gasket to set squish and cleaning any casting dags out of the transfers will have a 550 running well clear of a stock saw.
As mentioned a 562 dog is worth having.

If you want to change to an all orange clutch cover, a 555 clutch cover is exactly the same just orange. Big dawgs will make a 50cc saw bog down......I've tried and its not good and hard on chains. A small increase is OK but silly big spikes like Pro Safety ones will hamper performance.

I do know a 357/359 cover will fit 353/346 saws.
