Hey all,
Put a 395 cylinder on 394 chassis, drilled hole for impulse on carb. Saw starts and runs but the throttle cable is giving me grief. 394 cable wouldn't open throttle all the way, 395 cable seems too long and won't line up with the plastic arm on the intake tract. Anyone dealt with this before? Known solutions? Thanks guys.

Are you using the 394 carburetor? One conversion I did, I used the 394 carburetor and the 394 cable but I had to block up the end of the 394 cable with tiny split washers
so that it would open the throttle all the way.

The carb floors are different. But you’d think you could drill a hole anywhere in it that would help it line up with the plastic 395 arm.
Maybe something is worn on the other end in the trigger mechanism.

I know it’s not “right”, but I’ve crimped an extra barrel onto the cable to take up extra length. Also seen a single strand of wire wrapped around the cable. Even a small zip tie

I’ve never compared, but it’s possible that the plastic insert cams on the 2 carburetors are different

Different carb floors makes sense, I'll have a go at taking out some slack. Drill floor if I need to. Thanks again fellas

The throttle arm sticks out further on the 394 carb than a 395 so the plastic cable holding arm does not line up with the throttle cam well.

I think the easiest way is to use the 394 carb shelf and it's throttle holding location since the back of the carb is still rigidly mounted you don't need to use the floating cable holder on the back of the intake block. If you need to tighten the cable it's easy to crimp a little split washer behind the cable end on the throttle cam.

Was able to shorten cable, worked well, thank you.

Looking for a little more expertise, I'm seeing the throttle assembly (trigger, lever, spring) have different part numbers between 394/395. Will the 395 assembly fit into the 394 handle?
