It looks like a small spatula but made out of like 1/8 inch steel. The "head" has a threaded push bolt in the middle and like 5 or 6 different patterns for you to put screws through. I just took out the starter pawl bolts and threaded the correct length screws in and popped off the flywheel. You use the handle to crank it down but make sure that you put the nut loosely back on or it can and will go flying from the pressure

I've used it on a few husky flywheels and a dolmar clutch.

I bought it already made but I know there are a few changes I would make for it to be more ergonomical

Well, I got all of the bolts out. The grabit was a no go. Had to drill it, hope I didnt go into the case. Hope I drilled it good enough! Lol. Got another problenm. My splitter does not go over the flywheel without having to beat it down. Not comfortable with that.

Sorry, I just had a root canal today and not thinking clearly. What I meant to say was my crankcase splitter does not go over the crankshaft without rubbing the crank. Not comfortable with that because it might score the crankshaft. Says it should split a 394 case but I dont know.

You can grind on that c clamp or bend those ears out a bit to make it go down further....so you can split the case.

Did you get the flywheel off?

A proper puller is ideal.

The c clamp type splitter I've used quite successfully on 394 cases. It may not line up exactly....but it gets it pretty close.

Yeah, I'll try Mary's method and then try to drill it. This will be the second bolt I had to drill on this sucker if I have to do it. On this one I just don't want to get in the case....

I hate spell check...Matt's method. You think with a simple word like that...oh, gold on...Matt is a foreign word to this Japanese guy that created this keyboard!

Funny though!!!

Well, I screwed up that case. Evidently I didnt drill that bolt good enough and while trying to coax it with a rubber mallet, hit it light, it chipped the case. The top and rear was splitting, but the lower front where the bolt was was not. This is the first case I've fu#### up and it had to happen on this one. Bummed out right now.

Here it is. I'm sure its still functional (right now until I split it all the way and see how i did with that bolt) but was land ng on sending it off to get painted. Not now. What the hell have I got to lose just splitting the rest...nothing...image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I tore apart a perfectly good 262xp case one day because I didn't know that the bolts that hold the dog on were actually case bolts as well I literally tore it apart it was a real bummer at the time but now I can look back at it as a learning experience

Exactly. I really dont have faith that the front bolt is drilled all the way, it might, but I'm aiming to find out...

If it is not drilled all the way out then indeed you will tear apart the case
