Figured I would update on how I spent my money.

Good morning and a good evening to the other side of the world.

Christmas came early boys.
Nearly bought a 395 Friday but decided to wait and see a saw some old fella in the town up the Rd.
He didnt know the model just said it was a big saw when I talked to him.

Glad I waited.

Got a screaming deal on a 3120xp with the black coil.

36" bar and brand new 404 chain on it.
Rakes untouched.
Old boy gave me the Alaska mill also.
$460 USD. For the works.
Alaska mill used is worth 200 bucks here.
I feel kinda guilty buying it so cheap but that's all he wanted.
I didn't haggle with him just paid it up and thanked him very much for the great deal.

Going to put a 24" or 28" bar and 3/8 chain I think for the ladder mill set up unless you guys can suggest a different route.

Will be trying this out mid week.

This saw runs pretty nice and lightly used compared to others I have looked at.

Fella I got it from is 71 years old.
It had been sitting awhile but started with a few tugs.

Going to get filters Monday and put it to work splitting a good size Spanish cedar.
3500 board feet in this tree.

Will open the pipe up and ream the main jet or try and figure out how to put a H adjust on the carb if I can get detailed instructions.
i don't need a hot saw just need it to run smooth and speed up my production.

I get paid by the square inch here so the more sq" I cut is that much more I take home at the end of the day.
1"× 4 varas= 30-50 cents depending on the type of wood.
Wood sells here by the vara or square inch.
Ie. $2 a sq" for teak or Spanish cedar is standard Market price.
So a 2x4x3m=$16

Most jobs I get half the wood.
Then I have to sell it.
Not a big market for $16 2x4s though.

I have no $ in my bank account but the richest guy in town if you add up all the lumber I have stockpiled. LOL.

Thank you all for the input and advice.

Tested out the 3120 yesterday.
Very happy with it.
Scream fast!
It has the 12.500 coil.

Split this lightening strike cedar and started blocking it out for the ladder mill.
9" wide blocks were the menu.
Buddy needs siding for his old home.

Tree has some fractures through the core but still lots of good board feet to be milled.
The cracked boards will get milled out this morning. 2.5" thick.
Then I will sand them and epoxy finish them as live edge table tops.
Nothing gets waisted.
Even the bark gets uses. 20161010_124843_resized.jpg20161010_100055_resized.jpg20161010_124719_resized_1.jpg

Just an update on the 3120
It rips through the lumber on the mill.
Very happy with the performance and speed.
Finished lumber looks great.
One pass through the planer.
Using a 28" bar with 3/8 chain.
Will get a 20" bar though for future work.

Very nice set up. It's too bad, seems like the 3120s require lots of playing right out of the box to get performance out of them. The cost on them is just too high plus hearing about this stuff now makes me want to stay away.

The upside is after the effort, it's a better milling saw than the 084,088,880 in my opinion.

The more I see hammered's mill, the more I like it. Simple and functional

I like this 3120 but will buy a 390 down the Rd.
I had to hump the big bugger down a mountain 4km into the bush.
Tough climb out.
It's lighter than the old 070 but still a heavy saw.

Yes couple mods required but husky makes a good saw.
I have been running the crap out of Husqvarna machines for years.

Iron: this mill setup is slick with the big saw.
Anyone can make one with some fabrication skills.
I like the fact it's mobile and can load logs alone.
Production is way up now and fuel consumption balances out.

Bump bump

Just wondering if any updates on the 3120 for milling and general cross cutting

And was there any new small changes additions that make this ole beast
A better running saw
