Stupid question: can anyone tell me how the spring sits under the operator presence lever above the throttle trigger on a 385? I know they're for wusses and all, but I like mine to be complete and functional if I have the parts.. TIA

I was having the same issue with my 394, exact same parts. The tail of the spring that goes to the throttle trigger rides in a slot on the left side of the trigger

See page 17 of the attached pdf
For the life of me, I couldn't find the service manual (like yours) online, but that's how village idiots like me roll..
I think I turned the spring every way but the right one before posting here..and then in 30 seconds I was shown the light..thanks again

You betcha neighbor :)

I went through the exact same bout of head scratching you did and stumbled across that link when I finally resorted to Google searching. Definitely a light switching on moment when I figured it out after looking at the service manual :)

A good friend of mine messed with this on his 372 for a couple hours and broke the lever. I took him a new one and installed it in a couple minutes. He just shook his head. I told him to stick to killing trees and leave the saw repair to me.[emoji4]
