Good afternoon guys

I have a dilemma. I can buy a NOS 372xp for same price as 572xp.

I want to have the saw ported ( like my 545 and 562)

Which saw profit more from porting. I am also looking into you guys input as weight and weight distribution between those two saws.

The saw will wear a 24" bar

Looking forward to your input

I think at the same price I would go with a 572. 372OE is a great saw, but they’re only new for a few days. And a used 372OE can be had for significantly less in good condition.

If your just cutting firewood either is good. But felling trees the 572 has a noticeably wider useable power range. It also uses less fuel. Both stock and ported. The 372oe is lighter than the 572 which weighs about the same as a 372xt. Both are pretty easy to work on, but I give the edge to the 372 imo. The 372 has less complex parts and is cheaper to rebuild. 572 is smoother, little better ergonomics. Big differences? Nope. Comes down to personal preference.

I'm a bit trigger shy after a few 562xp's and several Stihl m tronic issues so I say go with 372. I'm not a fan of the x-torq version 372 so lately I've been converting new ones over to the oe upper end and carb setup. They like em much better now, so do I.

I have owned both . My ported 572 has much more torque . If you want to run a longer bar get the 572 . My 572 is two and a half years old and I am yet to have one problem with it . It has been my best saw i ever owned .

If you like wrenching rather than buying new, a 372 is likely the best project saw available. A stock 572xp has the power & torque to run a 24" bar in whatever wood you're cutting.

I noodle 28" full comp with my ported 372 clone.
How much have you put into that ported 372 clone? I have a ported 372oe and a mm572, both same price I would go with a new 572. Clone vs oem, would purchase oem. It's his money so I have no skin in the game, he should run both and pick what he likes best, both pull a 24" with out issue.

Oe372 no computer hook up, lighter and I wasn't overly impressed with the stock 572 compared to the 372xp.
They definitely take a while to wake up when there stock they tight… and the computer limits it for a certain amount of time until it breaks in apparently according to people in the know.

Was wondering if 592 will be same way?

Initial purchase is about 250.00 then an 18.00 BB kit (FT) ,caber rings 13.00?,proprietary o-ring Husqvarna.
Ofcourse my time as always to remove 2 small handfuls of aluminum. Its just a fantastic build for someone who likes to tinker.
I also worked with a Ranger who bought a oe 372xp years ago and it has been dead reliable through many hurricane seasons in the park service ,which speaks volumes about its track record. He runs a 24" bar all the time.

I want something smooth that has torque and that is low maintenance. I fell and buck my own firewood around 40 to 50 cords a year ( for me my family ).
I am leaning towards 572. I am mot overly good with a tachometer

I believe you may be leaning the right way.

I've been running a few saws lately but the 572 has become a favorite. The autotune is so fast at retuning compared to the the older autotune ( and the mtronic ones I've run) that it's for me a no-brainer compared to a screwdriver saw . The other thing is the fuel usage is so low compared to older saws , they can easily use half the amount to do the same cutting . Just my observation on them .

Ive recently bought a 572, WOW, great power, quick acceleration, great fuel economy, great av, so smooth.
My 281 used to be my fav saw, but not now.
Get the 572 you wont regret it, my 365's, 281's and 288 dont get used much now.

How good are you with a file? Autotune nor Mtronic understand dull chains. Go up 1 size class saw larger than you think you need and you wont be disappointed.
