372xp port timing numbers??

Ok, so i have a bit of a noob question. In the case of the OP, if the transfers were at the correct timing numbers after base cut.....could you lower the bottom of the transfers to make them larger to flow more since they cant be raised to make them larger?? will it have any detrimental effects? ive never come across this scenario when ive ported so i thought id ask. ive also never seen anyone lower the base of the transfers for more size.
After machine work, the bottom of the transfer ports end up covered by the edge of the piston at bdc. So lowering the port wouldn't do anything really.

Oh ok, so if the case were, that the piston didn't cover the bottom of the transfers then you could enlarge them downward? Say until it met the top of the piston at BDC?

Just to make sure that we are on the same page. You are asking about the upper transfer ports....right?
