Will do man. I’d be really surprised if it gives me any problems
Just came in from running that bastard saw. It the same *s-word on a different day. Started out great. Lost the idol tune after a good warm up. The revs are not to the moon today with this cold but way past any limited coils. Hard starting, stalling...idols gone, stumbling at midrange and coming off idol. It was on 100ll 32-1 synthetic. Switch it over to 40-1 89e10 with no change in character. I'm drilling the extra carb and swapping it back on.

Franks.
I was avoiding doing pop-off valves and spring changes. I felt they would be a waste of time.

Please let us know how it holds out. I’ve got one I’ve got to do if it does. Thanks for doing this.

If you want to run one and it’s lean drill the transition circuit to .36 if I remember right. It doesn’t need much since there’s 2 feeding it. If that doesn’t fix it you can go bigger. The closer to seating the carb screws are the more responsive the tuning is.

It is a lot more responsive to adjustments with the screws in further. Acts like a different carb. The more I think about the more I think I should open the secondary back up. Gonna drill it to .3mm when my smaller bits show up.

I bought a couple cheap sets before finally getting a good one.
The cheap sets were supposed to be sequential but many were the same size. About 4-5 each same size (only 4-5 total sizes) bits in a 20 piece set, even though the cases were labeled as individual sizes.

Good info...my cheap set was like that too.

That’s how mine is too Dave, forgot to mention that. Definitely gotta read the fine print before purchasing.

I like the looks of that. Pin vise seems to be better quality than my cheapo kit.

The bits are probably the same Made-In-China stuff as the other cheap sets, but the pin vise I think is decent quality and it actually says "Made in USA."

I've bought some other tools from that site and they've been good quality.

I don’t mind having duplicate bits, especially the very small ones that could break easily. Was a little tough to find a set that went smaller than .5mm though. This new set I have coming was recommended by @Stihlbro and goes down to .3mm.

Here’s the set I bought with a pin vise. It works, but it’s definitely not a high quality unit.

That’s a good pin vise you have though. The black one. Same as mine. And I have the bits that Joey mentioned to you. I’ve had to sharpen most of them though. It’s crapshoot trying to sharpen them, at least with my eyes

Yes I’ve noticed that on the very small bits, the cut to the fluting is very poor. They work but don’t cut all that well. Can’t even think of how you would sharpen them...sand paper on a flat surface? My eyes aren’t bad yet but damn those are small lol

That’s exactly what I did. 2-300ish grit.
Find the edge, swipe it back and forth a few times. Rotate 180 and repeat.
