Ok I apologize if this thread has been discussed before. I can't quite figure out how to word this right when trying to look it up. I'm wanting to swap my 1998 365s chain tensioner to a side style. The original bar plate took the chain to it at some point in its life and is warped pretty bad because of it. 'Ive bought 2 brand new bar plates 1 OEM and 1 hyway. Neither of them sit flush. Is there more to swapping the tensioner to a side style besides just pulling the tensioner screw out and replacing the clutch cover to the newer style?

Have to have a cover that will accept the side ten parts.
Early clutch cover won’t work

I've got a new clutch cover. From an xtorq. The inner bar plate doesn't want to sit flush against the mounting surface containing the bar studs. Unless I force it via bending the hell out of it and putting that screw in. It doesn't do that on any of the clones nor the OEM 372 I have.

Bad bar plate? Will it fit ok without the plate?

Pictures would go a long ways to get the question answered correctly but the inner bar plate is thin you should be able to bend it to fit flat plus putting the little screw in that holds it in place should pin it flat against the case pull the old style tensioner out now without bar in place put the side cover on and inspect that everything is going to line up because the grove in the inner plate and case will have to line up with the new clutch cover tensioner.

I ended up just assembling it with bar and chain and it seems to have bent it to fit. None of the other 372s I've messed with were like this. Not even 2 clones. That's why I thought maybe there was more to it.
