Nice does that cylinder have the removable transfer covers?

Nice saw! What is the general consensus on a 353? I am getting one on a partial trade for a 272XP pretty soon. I have not seen or heard much about the 353.

52cc, closed port, removable transfer covers, easy to work on, oilers generally don't leak, aftermarket open can mufflers to replace the cat e-tech versions, strong runners. Only possible negative I can think of is the OEM bearing on the PTO side which is expensive, but not often replaced.

Same saw as a 346xp, other than the piston and cylinder.

I personally would not port the 353... I would buy a new NE 346xp top end for a little over $100 and then have it ported, and sell the 353 P&C for $50 in the classifieds.

That is good advice, and a spare 353 p/c is a good thing to keep around for the project saws.

Agreed ^^ I just put the 353 piston in my closed port cyl.
I ported one like yours a couple months ago. Got it to run with a stock 346ne. Idk. It's ok. I never went back in for more. When I ported the 346 I got it to run close to a 272xp lol. Nice little saws
