Two questions regarding NE 346xp/xpg without decomps:

1. What year(s) was the NE version offered without a decomp? Was it sold under a different part number than the powerhead with decomp?

2. Is the non-decomp NE cylinder still available? P/N? EDIT: Looks like the piston/cylinder kit P/N was 544 14 29-03 for 50cc. Is that still available?

Thanks!!!!

I think the 346 had a de comp around 2008/2009 when the primmer bulb was fitted ...before that (pre new edition UK) it appears not to have one fitted ....Cant help out with the availability in the US .

I just ran #544142903 on 2 parts site I've used and it says that number( item) is no longer available- superceded to # 5442907

I had always thought there was 3 tops offered going by part #'s I knew for NE. But Spike gave us the info needed in this thread back in 2013.

Thread http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/husqvarna/346-topend-kits/msg19667/#msg19667

Per Spike60 in thread. Despite all of the different numbers, there are only two kits for the NE 346. With and without the deco. The change in the last digit doesn't have any significant meaning, and any use of the old numbers will supercede up to the new ones.

Does any one know if there is a benefit to the non decomp jug over the decomp jug.
Non decomp p&c kit 544 14 29-07
Decomp p&c kit 544 14 29-08

Doing some more research looks like the only difference is weather the cylinder is drilled and tapped for the decomp.

Kevin put a ne346 decomp p/c kit on my 2149. He plugged the decomp hole and the saw rips. Saw has a lot of compression but I never use decomps and it prevents any possible future leakage. Either cylinder should perform the same

I’ve ordered 2 346ne kits from hl with part number ending in ‘8’. And was wondering if I was missing something as I see kits with part number ending ‘7’ thanks for clearing it up guys.
